Imagine how pleased I was! Attending the family reunion with my sweetie, and when they discovered that I had an interest in old banjos, announced that grand father had not only played banjo, but that they still had his old banjo in the basement. It was dug out of the piles and turned out to be a vintage Vega Little Wonder with an 11 3/4" pot, which is a bit unusual, since this is a larger pot than the most common 11" (actually 10 15/16th's but let's not get technical).. Turns out the banjo was in excellent shape, with all the original hooks and nuts in place and the original head still tight. It only had 3 strings left on it, but I was able to tune it enough, even with only three rusty strings to get a tune and we had a grand old time with it. I love these kind of magic moments... By the way, the way I play would not be correct for this type of banjo and its era, but it still was priceless.. By the way, this is the first time this banjo has been played since the original owner passed on.. Pretty cool....
